Griff's Journal: Upon reaching the first sight of The Dead halls and trudging through the cold snow to get there, the group is astonished at its vast scale. A bridge across a large ravine crosses into a breathtaking vista of a large city against a mountain cave entrance shaped in the form of a dragon’s maw. Upon approaching the first gatehouse, the group is set on by a small group or orcs declaring themselves as the Orcs of the Crossed Axe. They went down like little bitches.
It took some work, but the group managed to cross the bridge and make it past the broken and sealed gates into the city. What followed was days of finding and killing orc patrol groups and taking out their control of the city gates. What the group was completely unprepared for though was the namesake of why this city was known as The Dead Halls. Undead came out in packs during the night- from zombies to ghouls to worse, any noise or alert and they would appear in hordes. The group managed to survive days of both orc and undead attacks but no place was safe for respite. Tinkles was even able to learn the orc horn patterns to assist in the groups survival and avoid alerting the Orcs of the Crossed Axe when possible.
Once the orc numbers had been whittled down, the time to lay a trap for their last stronghold was at hand. Taking advantage of a captured gatehouse, Tinkles blew the horn in an irregular pattern to lure them into a trap. Between Dania’s lightning, Callie’s arrows, Griff’s punches, Tinkles shattering voice, and Flint’s hammer, their leader, Bozgul Gorthal, and his Eyes of Gruumsh were slain.
With all known live humanoids, the group finally was able to enter the dragon’s maw entrance and descend into….
