Tinkles and Callie meet with the Prince who mandates we travel to Grigtung's city, Ursaladon, and destroy Jaslex's druidic source of power. After we mitigate Jaslex's threat to the halfling nation, the Prince orders Tinkles and Callie to kill Grigtung. We're conflicted about this, since we have befriended Grigtung and consider him a great ally and asset.
We take off for the swamps and to the main outpost that leads to the Underdark, the less conspicuous path for Grigtung and us to enter Ursaladon. We find the tower guarded by hobgoblins under Jaslex's orders, and defeat all but one who surrenders to Grigtung's leadership.
We find a trapdoor that leads down to the underdark and decide to take a long rest before descending.
While the party rests, Griff interrogates the prisoner hobgoblin, who submits to Grigtung to bring Jaslex down. Noggle joins the group, but doesn't know anything of the Underdark. Griff goes on to explore the rest of the tower and finds a small amount of wealth but nothing else of note.
The party ventures forth down the trapdoor and into the underdark. As we open the first door, Callie is hit by an old poison trap that has long dried up. Below the keep are a small series of empty jail cells that the party passes by to a tarnished copper door. Finally in the earthen part of the underdark the party proceeds, but Griff falls into a trap floor that leads to pit with a menacing gray ooze at the bottom.
After defeating the ooze and getting past several more traps, the party makes their way to a large cavern of the Underdark. As the party explores the large dark area, Griff comes upon giant mushrooms that he feels obliged to poke at given his curious nature. But these mushrooms end up being a race that call themselves the Sharn that communicate through telepathic spores. As Griff explores whether they are hostile or not, Tinkles also joins out of curiosity and they eventually convince Callie and Dania.
The Sharn request a trial of water to get “the rose”, which will only be available to those who are good. The group commences towards a pool of water where a water guardian immediately besets the party. Tinkles went down first, then Griff, then Griff again as the water creature would pull them to the depths. Finally after enough hits, the creature falls. Tinkles retried the rose necklace, and the Sharn were no longer bound to their duty and could return to the depths of the Underdark.
The party continues west in the depths….
